It used to be called the Plaza de la Inquisición, because that tribunal's palace faces one of its sides. Today it's a fenced park with big trees, a fountain and, in the middle, the equestrian statue of Simón Bolívar.
It's the place to sit in the shade in the middle of your walk. Around it are the Palacio de la Inquisición (the city history museum), the Museo del Oro Zenú, which is free, and the Cathedral.
There are often groups dancing or playing music on the plaza, and palenqueras (women in traditional dress) selling fruit. It's a good meeting point if you get lost in the old town.
