The Bulevar del Río was built between 2011 and 2013 on top of the Avenida Colombia tunnel, which is 980 meters long. Up top there's a promenade with a pedestrian lane and a bike lane, two lookouts, long wooden benches and 12 chimneys housing the tunnel's fans.
It starts at La Ermita, follows the Cali River and crosses the Puente Ortiz toward the CAM, the city's administrative center. Work on the bridge started in 1842 and it has been built three times; remains of the earlier ones are along the path.
This is where the Book Fair, craft fairs, concerts and the December lights take place.
