Candé bills itself as one hundred percent Cartagena cooking. The menu has ceviches, crab au gratin, crab in coconut sauce (encocado de jaiba), rice dishes, seafood, meats and regional desserts you won't see elsewhere.

The dining room is full of plants, wicker lamps and deliberately mismatched chairs. The waiters wear traditional dress, and several times a day a group comes out to dance mapalé and cumbia between the tables.

It's one of the most visited restaurants in the old town, so don't expect a secret spot. It is an easy way to try local food with a bit of a show, and it works well with kids.
