Cartagena Fried Food Festival 2027

The festival is organized by the city government with the IPCC as part of the Candelaria festivities. In 2026 it started on Saturday, January 24 in the Los Zapatos Viejos parking lot, with 62 cooks, some invited and some chosen through an open call, and because of the rain the closing moved to Tuesday, February 3 and Wednesday, February 4.

It's a midday and afternoon outing, a few minutes from the Centro. You don't need to book anything for the fried snacks; as for hotels on those dates, with the early January high season behind, there's usually more availability.

The venue

The event is at Los Zapatos Viejos. It's a sculpture of a pair of giant old shoes, in the park next to the Castillo San Felipe. It honors Cartagena poet Luis Carlos López and his poem about the city.

On foot from the Castillo San Felipe ticket office: two minutes.
