In a quarter of an hour you see the whole Aburrá Valley. The helicopter takes off from Olaya Herrera Airport, climbs to about 330 meters above the ground and covers a good part of the city, around 40 kilometers.

The city route goes over Pueblito Paisa on Cerro Nutibara, La Alpujarra, the Atanasio Girardot stadium, the Botanical Garden, Parque Explora, Parque Norte and Parque de los Deseos. Another route focuses on Comuna 13, and the pilot talks you through it as you fly.

The whole thing takes about an hour. They meet you at the hangar gate, drive you through the aircraft area in a van, show you the safety video in a waiting room, and then you board. After landing there's time for photos with the helicopter.

There are two ways to do it. The shared flight goes on Saturdays and you pay per person. The private one goes any day and the helicopter is just for your group, 5 to 6 people.

What to see

  • Cerro Nutibara and Pueblito Paisa from above.
  • The Atanasio Girardot stadium and the sports complex around it.
  • The Botanical Garden, Parque Explora and Parque Norte, side by side.
  • Comuna 13 and its outdoor escalators, on the route that focuses on that neighborhood.

Getting there

  • Meeting point: the gate to the hangars at Olaya Herrera Airport, on Calle 5. Get there by taxi or car.

Tips

  • If you're celebrating, ask them to decorate the waiting room; they have birthday and proposal plans.
  • They offer a plan that flies over the city and lands at Marmoleo restaurant, for COP 3,000,000.
  • The combined weight limit for passengers is 480 kilos.
  • The shared flight only goes on Saturdays; on weekdays, the private one is the option.
