Sabaneta is the smallest municipality in Colombia, at 12 square kilometers, in the south of the Aburrá Valley. Its main square, Parque Simón Bolívar, is the center of town life: trees, benches and food spots all around.
Facing it is the Santa Ana parish church, which draws people from other towns in the valley. On weekends the square fills with cultural events and live music, and it's a good place to eat an arepa de choclo or a buñuelo.
If you have more time, the La Romera Nature Reserve, in Sabaneta's mountains, has trails for birdwatching.
