Hija Mía was started by a New Zealander who couldn't find a flat white in Medellín like the ones back in Australia and New Zealand. He shipped a La Marzocco machine and a roaster in a container, and opened a small café in Manila around 2015.
They roast in small batches and buy micro-lots from Colombian farms before they go to export. At the bar they make espresso, flat whites and pour-over, and they sell bagged coffee to take home. They also give barista workshops.
Today the café is at Calle 11A #43D-117, in Manila. Besides coffee, it serves breakfast.
