La Minorista, officially the Plaza Minorista José María Villa, is downtown Medellín's market hall, near the river. Neighborhood residents and many of the city's restaurants shop there.
There are aisles of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, flowers, herbs and grains, plus restaurants, juice stands and bakeries. It's a place to try fruit rarely seen outside Colombia and ask the vendor how to eat it.
It opens very early, at 4:30 in the morning, and the first hours are the busiest. It has parking.
