Plaza Mayor is Medellín's convention and exhibition center, at Calle 41 #55-80, next to the Teatro Metropolitano and La Alpujarra. You get there by metro to Alpujarra or Exposiciones stations (Line A) or by Metroplús to Plaza Mayor station.

It started in 1971 as Medellín's Palacio de Exposiciones. In 2006 it merged with the Centro Internacional de Convenciones and has been called Plaza Mayor ever since. The city owns most of the company.
It has two parts. Trade shows use five halls named by color: Yellow, Blue, Red, White and Green, the last one opened in 2013. The Yellow hall is the biggest, with room for 5,724 people. Conferences use the convention building, with the Gran Salón for 2,900 people, the Caja de Madera for 756 and smaller rooms. Altogether it has 23,726 m² of covered space.
It hosts fairs that fill the whole venue, like Colombiamoda, Expobelleza and the Feria de las 2 Ruedas motorcycle show, plus medical and business conferences. In 2022 it held 305 events.
It sits in the city's government district, next to the Teatro Metropolitano, Parque de los Pies Descalzos, the EPM building and Parques del Río.

- Bike: 50 bike racks and access from the Avenida San Juan bike lane; there's an EnCicla bike-share station on the plaza (Plaza Mayor, OpenStreetMap).
Tips
- During big fairs the parking fills up. It has over 700 spaces; in 2026 a car pays COP 6,900 an hour or COP 27,900 for the day, which applies from the fourth hour.
- To skip the parking line, come by metro or Metroplús; Plaza Mayor station drops you at the door.
- Tickets for some events are sold at the Tu Boleta booth (local 102), Monday to Saturday.
- Afterwards there's food and coffee inside, and the Teatro Metropolitano and Parques del Río are within walking distance.
- To sleep nearby, Laureles is a few minutes away by taxi. Attic 33 is 1.1 km away in a straight line.
