Parques del Río is the park the city built along the banks of the Medellín River. The first section opened in 2016 on the west bank, next to Conquistadores. The second opened in December 2019 on the east bank, on top of a 470-meter road tunnel, across from Plaza Mayor and the Teatro Metropolitano.
Together they add up to about 71,800 square meters of paths, lawns and green areas, linked by footbridges over the river. There's a forest plaza with 2,600 trees, a shaded picnic area, playgrounds, pergolas, food stands and 3.3 km of bike lane.
It's also an event venue: in December it fills with EPM's Christmas lights, in February it hosts the Children's Book Festival, and during the 2026 Feria de las Flores it had a plaza with silleteros, music and food.

- Go during the day or in Christmas lights season; outside of events it gets empty at night.
- Combine it with the Teatro Metropolitano or downtown, both nearby.
- Check the city's calendar; many of the city's fairs and festivals happen here.
