Mercado del Río opened in October 2016 in an old warehouse of about 2,000 square meters, between the Autopista del Río and Avenida Los Industriales, across from the Bancolombia building. It's the Ciudad del Río area, the same one as the Museo de Arte Moderno.
Inside there are shared tables and food stalls of every kind: Neapolitan pizza, grilled meats, Peruvian, Mexican, Asian and Antioquian food. Most of the stalls, the bars, the café and the desserts are on the first floor; on the second there are restaurants with their own seating. It also has breweries, tejo courts (a Colombian game of tossing metal pucks at gunpowder targets) and big screens to watch soccer.
Everyone orders from whichever stall they want and sits together, so it works for groups that can't agree. The kitchens get going mid-morning, and it fills up at lunchtime and on weekend nights.
