Andoke was founded by María del Carmen Tamayo on a farm along the road to Cristo Rey. It has a covered butterfly house with native species, where you can see the full life cycle: eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises and butterflies in flight. In 2025 the Ministry of Science recognized it as a Science Center, and it holds the Ministry of Environment's green business seal.

The Paseo de las Mariposas takes about an hour and a half. Besides the butterfly house, it goes through trails, gardens and a map of Colombia laid out on the ground. Tours leave at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Friday to Sunday and public holidays you can book for one person; Monday to Thursday, for groups of five or more.

The basic package costs COP 48,000 for Colombians and COP 60,000 for foreigners, including entry, guide and insurance. There are versions with a butterfly release, a snack or lunch, and cabins to stay overnight. In October 2026 it was still welcoming visitors, and Cristo Rey, on the same road, reopened on August 22 after post-earthquake inspections.

Tips

  • Book ahead on the website or on WhatsApp (316 306 3756): they don't take visitors without a reservation.
  • If you're going Monday to Thursday with fewer than five people, message on WhatsApp; sometimes they add you to a group that's already booked.
  • Combine it with Cristo Rey on the same outing: both are on the same road.
  • Take the 10:00 a.m. slot; butterflies fly more in the sun.
