Every year the novena to the Virgen de la Candelaria starts around January 24, and the main feast is on February 2, with a procession at La Popa, the highest hill in the city. The Festival del Frito runs at the same time.

February 2, 2027 is a Tuesday. If you plan to go up La Popa for the procession, go early, with water and comfortable shoes, and preferably with organized transportation if you don't know the area.

The venue

The event is at Convento de La Popa. A colonial convent of the Augustinian Recollects on top of La Popa hill, the highest point in Cartagena. You go up by car or taxi; walking up isn't recommended.
