Carmen opened in 2008 in a house in El Poblado, a few blocks from Parque Lleras. Chefs Carmen Ángel and Rob Pevitts founded it, and it was one of the restaurants that pushed chef-driven cooking forward in Medellín. Later they opened another one in Cartagena.
The cooking is contemporary and starts from Colombian products; the menu travels through the country's regions. Today the executive chef is Juan José Cárdenas. It has appeared on the Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants list, and in 2026 Condé Nast Traveler named it when it listed Medellín among its food destinations.
It's open for lunch Tuesday to Saturday and for dinner Monday to Saturday. It's closed on Sundays.
