Laureles is the neighborhood of curving streets that Pedro Nel Gómez designed in 1943, with parks, roundabouts and circular avenues. In 2023 Time Out ranked it first on its list of the coolest neighborhoods in the world. The Primer Parque is its meeting point: a block of tall trees on Carrera 73, with stone paths, benches and people walking dogs at all hours.
Around the park there are cafés and restaurants in houses and low buildings. On Carrera 73 is Café Revolución, and on Transversal 39 is Santa Leña, for coffee and brunch. On the nearby blocks there are grills, Peruvian, Italian and Mexican food, bakeries and ice cream shops.
Avenida Jardín connects it on foot with the Segundo Parque de Laureles, and Carrera 70 (La 70) is about four blocks east. To the south runs Circular 1, one of the curving roads that give the neighborhood its shape. On one corner of the park there's an EnCicla station and a taxi stand.
