INCIVA founded it in 1981, and it was the first regional museum in southwest Colombia. It sits on a 15,000-square-meter lot in town, in an area where tombs were looted for years in search of gold and pottery.

The guided visit goes through display cases with pottery, tools and objects from the societies that lived in the region more than two thousand years ago, and a projection mapping that explains how they buried their dead. Outside, in the gardens, there are scale replicas of pre-Hispanic homes.

INCIVA confirmed that the museum is operating normally after the August 10, 2026 earthquake; it reopened on September 10. There's paving work in front of the entrance, so you'll need to park on nearby streets. It's a good stop if you're spending the day at Lago Calima.
